DIY Network

James loves the DIY (Do It Yourself) Network. It seemed that every time we climbed into bed at night he would turn on DIY. Which was fine with me...it put me right to sleep. As most know I'm not a do-it-yourselfer. I'm more of a buy-what-I-need-or-hire-someone-to-do-it..er. James however really enjoys building things himself, as I have come to learn. One Sunday while sitting in sacrament meeting James hands me a piece of paper with a sketch of what he would like to do in his office, to which I say, "looks good hon", thinking this would be done sometime in the future.

Fast forward 2 weeks. My little brothers come for a visit. I'm upstairs when I hear what sounds like a chainsaw turn on downstairs. I get downstairs and find my brother John cutting a hole in my wall. When I ask James what he's doing he said, "Remember, we talked about this. I'm building my cabinets." Apparently he figured that showing me a drawing while I was barely paying attention (remember..4 kids and sacrament meeting) qualifies as a discussion. I guess when he told John and Bud what his plans were they said lets do it. I'll give it to men, they're certainly not indecisive. So basically I worried about the gaping hole in the wall that led to my garage. I envisioned spiders and all other creepy crawlies that would soon invade my home. BUT James finished his project, as promised, in record time. Not only that, it looks amazing. So I now have a list of projects that I fully expect the same amount of commitment to.

This is what I found when I got downstairs.

Apparently it's still "FUN" to punch a hole in the wall.

No one ever gets tired of seeing the MAN POSE.

Somehow the words "I Told You So" comes to mind.

Halfway done. At this point I had decided in the future I would let him do any project he wanted.

Finished. I think it turned out beautifully. Especially the screen saver with
"James Simmons".

Thanks to my handy husband, thanks to my little brothers and thanks to DIY Network. Oh and here is my absolute favorite picture. It proves my point that boys never really mature passed the age of 16.

Looks like boys never really do grow up but it seems like they had a lot of fun too. It turned out really great - it's amazing what you can do with a little help from the DIY network!

Send him over when you are done... Is this a "Please take a number" kind of thing or can I just tell you what weekend works for me?

I will have my people call your people. :)
